About NordicPay

NordicPay exists because the Nordic labour market is the world's most data-rich and least comparable: four statistical agencies publish monthly wages by occupation, four tax systems quietly reshape every gross figure, and internationals comparing a Stockholm offer with an Oslo one are left doing currency maths on top of tax maths. We do both steps, with sources named on every line.

What we cover

The site follows the five professions internationals most often relocate for - nurse, software engineer, teacher, electrician and chef - across Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, in twenty country-by-profession guides plus this hub. Each guide carries the official occupational benchmark, the experience bands, the supplements structure that trades and nursing live on, and a worked take-home example under the current tax year. Start with any country section above or the Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland anchors.

How we source our numbers

Every occupational figure is checked against the primary statistical agency - Statistics Sweden (scb.se), Statistics Norway (ssb.no), Statistics Denmark (dst.dk) and Statistics Finland (stat.fi) - and where the agencies publish by request or table only, we cite the compilation and say so on the page. Tax rates come from the authorities themselves: Skatteverket, Skatteetaten, skat.dk and Vero. Collective-agreement rates are cited to the unions and employer federations that publish them. Where a figure could not be verified to an official source, the page says so and gives a hedged range.

Editorial principles

Three rules govern the writing. First, no invented precision: a sourced range beats a fake exact number, and every table states its measurement basis. Second, net over gross: a salary decision is made on take-home pay and housing costs, not on the headline figure. Third, independence: NordicPay is not affiliated with any union, employer federation, statistics agency or recruitment business, sells no products, and runs no user accounts. Corrections are welcome and acted on - if a figure conflicts with the named source, tell us and the page changes.
